NEW ROUTE:  CV Link to Cathedral City from Demuth Park via Dinah Shore Bridge to visit The California LGBTQIA+ Veterans’ Memorial to honor Veteran’s Day.

This Memorial was dedicated April 27, 2019 by the State of California through CA Assembly Bill 2439.

This ride through quiet Cathedral City neighborhoods (post-Veterans Day on Nov. 20) will allow us to reach the Desert Memorial Park on Da Vall as well as use recently completed sections of the CV link.  We will backtrack for our return.  Distance round trip will be approximately 15 miles.

Desert Memorial Park is also the Final Resting Place of many local notables;  The Sinatra’s, Busby Berkeley, Sonny Bono, Lawrence L. Crossley and Velma Wayne Dawson - to name a few!  Look up Desert Memorial Park for the complete list of notables resting there (click here)

Meeting Location: Demuth Park CV Link Station (Map click here)  Please meet promptly at 9:00 am.

What to Bring:  Water (2-3 liters recommended), snacks, sun protection, and layered clothing.  Carry emergency contact information.  All riders are strongly encouraged to wear helmets. Inflate your tires to the recommended PSI. You may want to bring a tire pump, spare tube, and bike tools.  Don't forget when checking your tires to re-adjust your seat height in order to get your best leg extension while riding.

BE AWARE!

We will be riding on the CV Link to the Dinah Shore Bridge.  At this point we will ride, or walk if you prefer, the sidewalk over the bridge, along Dinah Shore Drive to access Whispering Palms Trail.  The sidewalk is wide enough for riding safely for this 1/4 mi. transition from CV LINK to neighborhood streets.

We will cross Ramon Road, and Date Palm at traffic lights in both directions.

You should consider yourself a confident street cyclist to enjoy this ride.

Weather Policy: Inclement weather may cancel.

Health Problems/allergies  Discuss any medical concerns with the bike leader that may affect your ability to complete this ride.
