 The Sam and Alfreda Maloff Foundation

Sam Maloof is one of the finest woodworkers of our time. As a leader of the California modern arts movement, he designed and produced furniture infused with profound artistic vision for more than half a century. The residence is a living museum, each room is filled with treasures that give this unique home its spirit.

Joint us for a day trip to this Mid Century Modern Historic Landmark Residence/Studio and the Benton Museum and Farmers Market in historic downtown  Claremont.

Meet promptly at 7:45 AM at the PetSmart and Walmart parking adjacent to Ramon & Crossley Rd.

Assuming clear sailing, it's 90 minutes to the house, arriving at 9:30AM.  Those coming from other areas, meet in the parking lot at the Sam Maloof Foundation, 5131 Carnelian St.. Alta Loma, CA 91701, at 9:30AM.  The tour starts  at 10AM, finishing at 11:30AM.  After the tour there will be time to visit the garden and see the exhibit: "Jack Rogers Hopkins: California Design Maverick".

  • $26 Admission, pay here when you register. No refunds, but it is transferable.
  • $26 for guests and nonmembers, if space is available after March 01.

Then, leave the Maloof house and drive to Claremont, arriving about 12 Noon.  While in Claremont enjoy the Sunday Farmer's Market, the Benton Museum with an especially interesting exhibit for those living in the desert: "Continuity, Cahuilla Basket Weavers and their Legacies", the Claremont Museum in the historic train depot, and all the shops and stores in the village. This is also the lunch break.  There are numerous restaurants, the Farmer's Market. bakeries, and delicatessens.

We will leave Claremont and drive into Pomona at 2:00PM.  We will be visiting the American Museum of Ceramic Art. 399 N Garey Ave Pomona, CA 91767.  Admission not included: $14 – Adult, $9 – Senior (age 62+)   The museum closes at 4PM, and could be optional for those wanting to spend more time in Claremont, or for that matter Claremont could be optional.

Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by a driver. You are responsible for arranging your own transportation or ride share. Contributions to driver cost welcome.

Event conditions, health problems/allergies. Extended standing and indoor/outdoor walking expected, including steep staircases, narrow passageways. Discuss any medical concerns with the event leader that may affect your ability to complete this event.
