Our winter hike begins on the bluff above Pelican Cove and beach where we will see magnificent views of the ocean and (if clear) Catalina Island 25 miles away across the channel.

From there we will embark upon the Terranea Trail which is an easy 1 mile with more stunning views of the ocean. There are lots of native coastal plants along the route and we will see many shorebirds including majestic pelicans flying above this State Marine Protected Area. It is peak whale migration season and whales and dolphins are commonly seen along this coast.

For a short hike there is so much to see! Before we have lunch we will take a pause at the Terranea Beach and explore the amazing hidden gem of Hudson's Bluff Sea Cave.

At 12:30 we have a reservation for 18 at Nelson's for Brunch/Lunch. Nelson's is a special treat casual dining experience perched on top of the scenic Terranea bluff. Please open this link to the menu and consider what drink and food you will order. Be sure to note the prices and be prepared for the only part of our event that is not free: https://www.terranea.com/dining/nelsons/menus

Picnic option: If you prefer to bring your lunch, there are places on the trail nearby to picnic.

Our return hike will include a stroll through the 105 acre 5- star Terranea Resort.

Optional: Once we have returned to our cars at Pelican Cove there will be an optional hike (an easy additional 1.2 mile round trip) along the Trail to the Point Vicente Lighthouse and Interpretive Center Museum and gift store: https://www.rpvca.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Point-Vicente-Interpretive-Center-13

Lunch/Brunch is optional and drink/meal paid on your own. Please indicate on registration if you will be joining our reservation.
