PS - Hike: Warren Peak/Panorama Loop

Warren Peak is located in the less visited but easy to access Black Rock Canyon area on the west end of Joshua Tree National Park. 

The hike to Warren Peak combines easy wash walking in pretty Black Rock Canyon; a steep, loose ascent of Warren Peak, and an occasionally steep trail through the aptly named Panorama Loop. Views from the peak include San Jacinto, San Gorgonio, and surrounding areas. Vegetation includes some nice larger pinyon/juniper and oak. 

Trail Length:  8.2 miles RT with 4+ hours of hiking time plus breaks and lunch for planned 5+ hours duration

Total Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,700 feet

Trailhead Elevation: 3,900 feet

Difficulty Rating: Strenuous - plan for an arduous hike with some steep inclines, sand, and loose footing.

Terrain: There are two steep sections. Some areas have loose sandy soil and steeps tend to have desiccated granite. The area is home to rattlesnakes. Be careful around rock outcroppings.

Hiking Requirements:  Good soles and hiking poles are strongly encouraged.  You will need to be in good physical condition for this hike. Click here for more information.  You must be a Great Outdoors (GO) member in order to attend this event.  

Ten Essentials (click here):  Water (2+ liters recommended), lunch/snacks, sun protection, layered clothing and hiking poles. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE).  Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.

Park Entrance Requirements:  Parking at the trailhead is inside Joshua Tree National Park and access requires an entry fee. Bring your National Parks pass if you have one or confirm that someone in the vehicle has one.

Carpooling may be available if offered by driver.  You are responsible for arranging your own transportation or ride share.
