PS - 4x4 and Hiking Adventure

Registration

  • Passengers register directly as 'Passenger'
  • Passengers are responsible for arranging their ride. During registration please list your driver.
  • This category is for passengers looking for a ride. GO does not arrange carpooling, but we will provide your name to a driver who wishes to take on a passenger in their 4x4 vehicle. During the registration process put "looking for a ride" in the ride sharing box.

We will travel via Dillon Road to Berdoo Canyon where the adventure begins. Berdoo offers several challenging driving spots and is rated 3 of 10 by on-X Off-Roads. The canyon run ends at the southeast corner of the Joshua Tree National Park Geology Tour Road. The pace will be easy with stops to enjoy the canyons and Park, including a lunch stop.

Then, for those interested in more, we will drive Desert Queen Mine Road to the Elton Mine and Lucky Boy Vista Loop for an easy 3.3 mile hike before heading back to Palm Springs through Yucca Valley.  

  • Length: 106 miles driving and 3+ miles hiking 
  • Hiking Elev. Gain/(Loss): 209 feet
  • Rated: Moderate 4-wheeling and easy for hiking

Meeting Location:

8:00 AM - PetSmart, Ramon/Crossley, Palm Springs - Map 

Equipment Requirements:

4-wheel drive high clearance vehicle with transfer case, trail rated tires, a spare tire and a full tank of gas. Bring water and trail snacks. Lunch is planned at restaurant in Joshua Tree after exiting the park. 

Trail communications frequency 146.550. 

Park entrance fee/pass applies.

Dogs are allowed except on hiking trails. 

Drivers are welcome to bring passengers which should be arranged ahead of time.  GO does not arrange rideshares. If any drivers wish to take a passenger, we will share passenger contact information with them (phone #) so they can make arrangements.
