Long Beach Airport’s (LGB) award-winning Festival of Flight is coming in for a landing Saturday, October 29, 2022. No tickets are required. The popular (10,000 ATTENDEES!) free event is returning with aircraft on static display, live music, food and beer trucks, activities for kids and helicopter rides for purchase.
This just in: For entertainment there will be a DJ throughout the day as well as Satin Dollz and Dustbowl Revival scheduled to perform. The Satin Dollz are a boogie-woogie 1940s all female group. See pic of them below with Rob M. (Rob is the one in shorts.)
Expect to attend the outdoor event between noon and 4 p.m.
Meet up at the main (west) entrance off of Taxiway E, located on the west end of the airfield at 3590 East Wardlow Road., Long Beach. Limited free parking will be available at the corner of East Wardlow Road and Globemaster Way. That lot is likely to fill up quickly. Overflow parking is available at 3840 Kilroy Airport Way, Long Beach. Shuttle service will be available between 9:30-4:30. Please park well before our meeting time of noon.
Alternate modes of transportation, such as cycling, carpooling, ride-sharing and public transportation, are highly encouraged. Bicycle parking also will be available.
Attendees are advised to bring water and sunscreen, wear a hat for shade, wear sensible shoes and be prepared to be outdoors, rain or shine. Coolers will not be allowed, and bags will be subject to search. Service animals will be permitted, but pets will not.
CARPOOLING would also be good option to reduce congestion - not to mention pollution. If you would like to offer or need a ride, go to this link, enter your info, and check back frequently for a match.
