PS - Hike: Lost Palms Oasis

The trail to Lost Palm Oasis in Joshua Tree National Park begins at Cottonwood Springs at the southern entrance of the park. One of the largest palm oases in the park, second to Munsen Canyon, the trail proceeds through sandy washes and rolling hills until you reach the oasis overlook where the trail descends into the palms below.. there will be some boulder scrambling descending into and out of the oasis.

  • Trail Length: 7.2 miles
  • Total elevation gain: 1500'
  • Difficulty Rating: moderate plus*
  • Trail Type: Out and back.
  • Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
  • Distance to trailhead approximately 51 miles.

Departure Time: 8:00 AM (Please arrive early for 8:00 am departure)

Departure Location: PetSmart - Ramon/Crossley, Palm Springs: Map Click Here. Meet at the north/east corner parking lot between 7:45 and 8:00 a.m.

Fees/Charges: Joshua Tree Park entrance fee or bring your entrance card.

*Hiking Requirements - Although the trail is fairly level, the elevation is at 3000 feet so you will need to be in good physical condition for this hike.  Click here for more information.

Bring Ten Essentials (click here) - water (2 to 3 liters recommended), and trail snacks. Sun protection and layered clothing are recommended. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE).

Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.

Carpooling - is encouraged and may be available if offered by a driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share. Arrive a few minutes early for briefing and carpooling.
