The Maze to Copper Mountain Overview

  • Departure Time:  8:00 AM
  • Meet at PetSmart Palm Springs Ramon/Crossley Map click here
  • Trail Length:  3+ miles – in and out
  • Hiking Time 2 ½ hours
  • Elevation Gain: 400 feet
  • Difficulty Rating: Moderate
  • Parking is limited. Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share.  It is 55 miles to Joshua Tree West entrance and approximately 2 miles to the trailhead from the entrance station.

This hike travels part of the Maze Loop trail and encompasses some of its best features. It winds through large boulders and rock formations, cliffs, desert washes and peaks out at a summit overlook Copper Mountain and surrounding area.  It encompasses just about everything people love about Joshua Tree in one lightly-traveled trail.

Fees/Charges: Joshua Tree Park entrance fee.

What to bringTen Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), lunch/snacks, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.
