PS - BIKE AND HIKE INDIAN CANYONS

Join us for a leisurely-paced bike and hike tour into the scenic Indian Canyons of South Palm Springs.  This will be interesting blend of moderate cycling and short trail hikes (with some minor bolder hopping along the streams) in both Fern Canyon and Andreas Canyon.

Total distance on bikes is less five miles and the hikes are about one mile each.  Keep in mind that although short in distance, the grade up to Andreas Canyon will require you have a suitable bicycle and that you be in reasonably good shape.  Total trip duration including the bike tour and the two hikes is about three hours

We’ll meet up at 9:00 am and depart from the South Lykken trailhead sign on So Palm Canyon Drive.  There is ample parking on both sides of the street.   Coming south on Palm Canyon Drive, the trailhead is just past the entrance to the Canyon Heights condos on your right.  Closest intersection is So Palm Canyon Drive and E. Murray Canyon Drive

For those who don’t have a pass, the entrance fee into Indian Canyons is $9 ($7 for those over age 62)

What to Bring:

• The essentials for a comfortable bike ride and hike:
• Bicycle (test drive it BEFORE you show up)
• Bicycle lock, helmet and gloves
• Appropriate clothing and shoes – both for cycling and the hikes
• Sun protection – this is essential.  There will little or no shade.
• Snacks and water (two quarts water minimum)
• Adventurous spirit
