Sunset Snacks and Campfire

Near JTNP Cottonwood Entrance

Enjoy a mid-week getaway evening with friends around a campfire near the scenic Cottonwood Springs Rd area off Highway 10! We'll have a campfire and share snacks and conversation. Enjoy the sunset and watch the stars come out with your GOPS friends!

WHAT TO BRING:

Ten Essentials (click here), camp chair, headlamps or other flashlights, and water or other beverages. Money for ride share if applicable. It's autumn, and air temperatures will drop in the evening, so dress accordingly. Snakes are still active, so be aware. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share.

Campfire Location: Exit 168 off eastbound Hwy 10 at the Mecca 29 Palms Cottonwood Rd exit. Turn left towards 29 Palms and JTNP. Drive approximately 1 mile, to dirt road, (just before brown "Commercial Vehicles Prohibited Through Park" sign. Turn left on the first dirt road, not the second graded dirt road, which is a private drive for the Metropolitan Water District. Look for GOPS Yard Signs to direct you the campfire spot.

Drive Time One Way: about 1 hour

High-clearance vehicles or 4x4 vehicles recommended on the trail; road shoulders and campfire spots are generally well compacted.  Look for GOPS Yard Signs, and GOPS Signs on vehicles parked at campfire site.

Register to bring firewood or snacks
