Hike Pipe's Canyon: wild flowers, rock formations, riparian areas

Hike begins at the Wildlands Conservancy Ranger Station at Pipe's Canyon. The route is along Pipe's canyon trail to Indian Trail Loop, to the Chapparosa Peak Trail, back to the Ranger Station. It's a high desert adventure. The attraction is desert landscape, canyons, a little scrambling, rock formations, and especially one fabulous view point. Photos click here

  • Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (2 to 3 liters recommended), trail snacks/ lunch. Sun protection and layered clothing are recommended. 
  • Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE).
  • Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required. Be able to hike up steep slope, and switchbacks to the ridge.

  • Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share. Arrive a few minutes early for briefing and carpooling. Departure is at 8:30 AM. Distance to trailhead is 34 miles. Suggested carpool donation: $5.00
  • Great Outdoors hikes as a group, either as one big group, or two smaller groups, but nobody will be left alone or behind.  Faster hikers are expected to stay with a group to maintain safety and social cohesion.
