DAY HIKE - HIKE THE SAN ANDREAS
Notice: Effective October 1, 2004, a two dollar fee ($2) will be
charged for all non members on day hikes, 4x4 outings and moonlight hikes.
Description:
On this easy, interpreted (walk and talk) hike we will walk four miles directly on top the
San Andreas Fault. We will follow the very center of the fault at the Mission Creek
Pressure Ridge (8 miles north of Palm Springs) and talk about how the San Andreas pushes up
cliffs, hills and unusual rocks ... and creates earthquakes. The route is a gently rolling jeep trail
with good views, but there is no shade.
This is a new hike for Great Outdoors. Bring lunch and water.
Desert Hot Spring members may meet the group at the hike parking site, Long Canyon Road and 16th Avenue.
