Orange County Long Beach Chapter
Neither rain, sleet, hail, ice and temperatures in the upper 20s could stop 15 participants, of Phase I of the Outdoors Experience Program, from receiving their Day Hike Certifications over the weekend at Monrovia Canyon Park in the Angeles Mountains.  These severe weather conditions and some tragedies, that a couple of our instructors experienced, made it very appropriate for teaching Hiking in severe conditions and being able to adapt, as a leader, to unforeseen situations.

fifteen people signed up for the program and 15 people showed up. One person left after Day Hike Certification, the first day, and 1 person left the second morning before instruction began.  The other 13 participants finished the whole program and qualified to attend Phase II.

Check out the pictures that were just added. First is the Group Picture. The next 5 are of our hike to the waterfalls where we had lunch. The next two were taken during one of the lectures. The next one shows the hail as it was coming down. The last three are of a tent that was showing the frost and the ice that accumulated overnight
