June 19-21, 2009

This was the first trip that Byron ever led and it was a hoot. We're going back again and hope many of you will return as well. What's summer with out Kamp?

July 4, 2009

Again this year, we're going to party at Jay's and then walk to the beach and watch the fire works. Check back for further details.

July 9-12, 2009

Right after all the hoopla of the fourth of July as summer in Los Angeles and environs heats up, this is an opportunity to escape to the High Sierra. You‘ll notice stunning vistas along the way. Beautiful alpine flowers, tumbling waterfalls and serene lakes await you. In the evenings, you can watch the sunset wash the peaks with Alpenglow and see more stars than you remember exist.

July 11, 2009, 8:30 AM

Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park in south Orange County encompasses more than 4,200 acres of scenic canyons, rock formations, mature oaks, meadows, and 2 year-round streams.  There are over 30 miles of trails for easy to strenuous hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.  The park is home to deer, coyote, bobcat, and a wide variety of birds. Join us in exploring this wonderful area.

July 25, 2009

This is the Villa that is so famous for the sculpture and other art collections of J. Paul Getty. If you've never been there, you owe it to yourself to make sure you're on this trip. If you have been there, you know why you don't want to miss visiting it with your good friends from GO

August 7-9, 2009

High in the mountains, lots of places to hike and places to see. Don't miss this weekend getaway.

August 29-September 7, 2009

You will be talking about this trip for years, after returning from touring the Utah part of the Colorado Plateau. During this tour, we will be visiting 5 National Parks (camping in 4 of them) and exploring or driving through 3 National Monuments and 1 National Recreation Area

September 4-7, 2009

Join Great Outdoors as we backpack the interior of Santa Rosa Island, the second largest of the Channel Islands, and camp on sandy white beaches! This trip is rated as strenuous. The pace will be moderate, but not slow. All participants will be expected to keep up with the group. This trip is hosted by the Santa Barbara Chapter.

September 12, 2009

We hope by now you've got the drill down. Bring your favorite dish and a good movie and join us for the fun.

October, 2009

This is the clubs annual business meeting where all the clubs meet and plan the upcoming activities for the club. Even if you're not one of the officers or delegates this is one of the really good trips. This year, Conference is being hosted by the Santa Barbara/Ventura County chapter

October 25, 2009 8:00AM

Did you know that there are fresh water streams and waterfalls less than an hour from Orange County/Long Beach? Come with us on the Mount Zion Loop. This trail starts with a steep descent to the bottom of Santa Anita Canyon, and then an easy walk up the canyon. An optional one mile side trip will take us to the bottom of Sturtevant Falls. We need to meet at the trail head at 8 AM, because the parking is limited. You need an Adventure Pass or a National Parks Pass in order to park in the state lot. Paid parking is available at the Pack Station.

November 26-29, 2009

Great Outdoors is planning to go back to Anza Borrego again this year for Thanksgiving Weekend. Keep checking back for more details of this annual tradition.
