The Orange Count/Long Beach chapter will be hosting a day trip to the Huntington for a day of culture and education. The Huntington is world renown for its research library, botanical gardens and art collection.
In 1995 the Huntington began a 50 million dollar fundraiser to build a botanical research facility. This fall they opened a 16,000 square foot, $6,000,000 conservatory. There is a bog, cloud forest, rainforest, to include 1,000 orchids, flytraps, tupelo trees, oaks, Spanish moss, over 300 bromeliads, plus many more varieties.
We will meet at the main entrance to the Huntington at 10:00am
Parking is free, the entrance fees range from $6.00 to $15.00. The Huntington is open from 10:30am to 4:30 pm on the weekends. We will discuss dinner plans when we meet for those who want to gather afterwards.
